Quality & Sustainability
“I arise in the morning torn between a desire to improve (or save) the world and a desire to enjoy (or savor) the world. This makes it hard to plan the day.” E.B. White
When faced with the reality that the fashion industry is one of the world's leading polluters, we almost abandoned the idea of launching Chapter Goods all together. After all, we are moms and we give a damn. But we are also passionate about finding ways to make society a more accepting place for new mothers.
Our solution is to focus on making the highest quality clothes possible, which just so happens to be the most environmentally conscious route to take when launching a clothing line -- All of our fabrics are made from natural cotton and linen sourced from Europe, then dyed and finished in the USA. Each garment is made in Brooklyn, a choice that helps ensure higher quality working conditions and better treatment of employees. The decision to manufacture domestically also cuts down on Chapter's carbon footprint and allows us to have a closer working relationship with the people who actually make our clothes.
Moving forward we will be incorporating even more sustainable options such as organic fabrics, fibers made in a closed loop system such as tencel and lyocell, and 100% recycled packaging. We believe in the methods of ethical production and conscious consumerism and hope to join the ranks of brands who are scaling these practices on an ever larger scale.
